Frequently Asked Questions

“Mere curiosity adds wings to every step.”

– Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Do you provide online or in-person counseling?

I currently work out of Northern California and provide online therapy (telehealth) to individuals residing in California utilizing a secure, HIPAA compliant telehealth platform.

Is telehealth right for for me/my child?

Telehealth works best for those with mild to moderate symptoms, who are comfortable using technology, and have a quiet, private space to engage in sessions. Telehealth is not ideal for individuals experiencing suicidal ideation or who are currently in crisis.

Who do you work with?

I provide counseling to children and teens (age 7 to 17) and adults. I work with individuals and support clients in managing symptoms of trauma, anxiety, depression, and ADHD, and work with clients to target goals related to self-compassion, healing attachment, improving communication, stress reduction, and building motivation.

Are there any issues or types of client’s you DON’T work with?

I do not conduct child custody evaluations or provide custody recommendations. I do not write letters for unemployment or disability. I do not provide treatment for eating disorders, psychotic disorders, personality disorders, or individuals who are currently in crisis and experiencing active suicidal ideation

Do you prescribe medication?

No, I am not a medical doctor. I would refer you to your primary care physician or psychiatrist who would be able to assist you in regards to a medication evaluation. Some individuals may find medication and therapy to be beneficial while others find therapy alone works best for them.

Do you accept insurance?

I do not currently accept insurance. I will collect payment in full from you at the time of service. If you have a PPO type plan and want to submit a claim for out-of-network reimbursement, I can give you a receipt to help facilitate any reimbursement you may be entitled to. Please note that submitting an insurance claim means I will need to give you a mental health diagnosis.

What is your cancellation policy?

A missed or delayed appointment can impact our work together and can negatively impact other clients. Out of respect for everyone’s time, I require an email, call, or text at minimum 24 hours before your scheduled session time in order to cancel or reschedule. If less than 24-hour cancellation notice is given, you are responsible for the full service fee.

How often will sessions take place?

At the start of treatment we will typically meet on a weekly basis in order to build a trusting relationship and gain momentum on progress towards goals. Once progress towards goals is being met and the trusting relationship has been established, we can move to biweekly sessions, if desired. In addition, you have the right to terminate treatment at any time.
